Tourists and Nepalis Abroad Can Now Pay Revenue Online with International Cards

Kathmandu: Nepalis living abroad and tourists visiting Nepal can now pay revenue using international cards. On Thursday, Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal launched the International Card Network interconnection in the Revenue Management Information System.

With this system, services provided by the Immigration Department can now be paid for using cards connected to international networks, including MasterCard, Visa, and AliPay. The Office of the Comptroller General expects this to make revenue payments more convenient, especially for tourists entering through Tribhuvan International Airport and other entry points.

For now, the service is limited to immigration-related revenue payments handled by the Immigration Department and its subordinate bodies. However, the government is preparing to gradually expand it to other services.

According to the Office of the Comptroller General, integrating the international payment system with the Revenue Management Information System has made government services paperless, faceless, and available 24/7. The government also expects this initiative to speed up revenue collection, ensure transparency, make payments internationally accessible, and support the growth of the digital economy.
