Election Commission Opens Voter Roll Pre-Registration

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has resumed voter roll collection for the upcoming elections scheduled for 6 March. Eligible citizens can submit applications until 16 Novemner.

Those who have completed 16 years of age and whose names are already on the voter rolls can register. Voters who have married and moved elsewhere can transfer their voter location, while corrections can also be made to names and other details.

Applications can be submitted at the Provincial and District Election Offices from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on public holidays. Pre-registration must be completed online, followed by biometric submission at the election offices.

How to apply for pre-registration

For pre-registration, applicants will have to visit applyvr.election.gov.np once the system is launched. The website will provide options for new registration or updating details.

Those registering for the first time must select the new registration option, while those making corrections should choose the update list option. After entering a mobile number, an OTP will be sent by the Election Commission.

Once the OTP is entered, applicants can proceed to fill in details including polling place, citizenship information, citizenship photo, national ID number, as well as the location and date for providing biometrics.

After filling in the required information and clicking the register, applicants will receive a nine-digit submission code. With this code, they must visit the designated provincial or district election office on the given date to provide biometric details.

Once the biometrics are verified, the Commission will approve the application and publish the final voter list, which can then be viewed on the Election Commission’s official website.
