Voter Registration: Photos and Biometrics Can Be Done at Any Election Office

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has announced that photographs and biometrics for voter registration can now be completed at any election office. In a notice issued on Wednesday, the commission said that individuals who have filled out the online voter registration form can visit their nearest district election office to complete the process.
After filling out the online form at applyvr.election.gov.np, applicants can check the date and location for their photograph and biometric submission.
Within the Kathmandu Valley, these services are available at the District Election Office in Minbhawan (Kathmandu), Lalitpur District Election Office in Jawalakhel, and Bhaktapur District Election Office in Sallaghari, Sirjananagar.

The Election Commission has continued voter list collection for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5. Every Nepali citizen aged 16 or older with a valid citizenship certificate is eligible to register.
Citizens can register online or visit their provincial or district election offices between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Online Pre-Registration Process
You can pre-register online not only to register for the first time but also to update or correct details and change your address. Here’s how:
- Visit the official Election Commission website and click on the voter registration section.

Choose either “New Registration” or “Update List.”

Select New Registration if you’re registering for the first time.

Select Update List if you want to correct details or transfer your name.

Enter your mobile number to receive an OTP (One-Time Password).

Enter the OTP and proceed to fill in your personal information.

Read the notice titled “Things to Note Before Filling Out the Application”, tick the box confirming you are not yet registered, and click Start.

Fill in your province, district, local level, ward number, and polling station name.

Provide details such as your name (in Nepali and English), occupation, education, mother tongue, marital status, gender, and contact details.

Enter your birth details, citizenship number, and permanent residence. Upload a photo of your citizenship certificate (under 100 KB).

If applicable, mention the type of disability.

Select your preferred date and location for photo and biometric capture.

Review all details, click Confirm, and then Register to complete your application.
After registration, bring the following documents when visiting the election office for your photograph and biometrics:

Printed online registration form

Original and copy of your citizenship certificate

Migration certificate (and copy) if applying outside your permanent address

Marriage registration certificate (and copy) for married women
