Applications Can Now Be Filed Online for Recovery of Lost Licenses and Blue Books Burned During Protests

Kathmandu: Applications can now be submitted online to recover lost or destroyed vehicle documents after several traffic offices were set on fire during the Gen-Z movement. Superintendent of Police and Information Officer at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office, Naresh Raj Subedi, said the online application system has been reactivated from Sunday.

“The facility to apply online for lost documents existed earlier, but it was halted after traffic offices were burned during the protest,” said Subedi. “Now we’ve repaired the system and brought it back into operation.”

During the protest, many people lost their driving licenses, blue books, and other documents that were burned inside traffic offices. Subedi said applicants can now go to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office’s website and fill out the form, regardless of which office their document was lost from.

To apply, click on the ‘Application for Lost Documents’ option on the website.

Then, select the document you lost, license, blue book, or road permit, and fill in the required information. Applicants must upload a photo of their identification document before submitting the form. Once submitted, they will receive an applicant number.

According to Subedi, the traffic police will review each application and issue an online recommendation. The recommendation can be viewed by clicking on ‘Application for Lost Documents’ and selecting ‘Check Application’ at the top right of the page. Applicants will need the ID number received during submission to access it.

He added that the document can be reissued by taking the recommendation letter, which includes a QR code, to the concerned transport office.

Meanwhile, Subedi said there is still no exact data on how many personal documents were lost or destroyed in the fire. “A committee has been formed to study how many documents were burned during the protest and how many remain,” he said.
