National-Level Student Hackathon ‘CodeFest 2025’ Announced, Here’s How to Join

Kathmandu: Preparations have begun for the national-level hackathon ‘CodeFest 2025’ aimed at youth. Organized by Code for Change, the event will be held in two phases, provincial and national grand finale.
According to the organizers, the provincial phase will take place across all seven provinces on different themes. The competition targets students from Plus Two to Bachelor’s level. Teams selected from each province will compete in the national grand finale.
In Kathmandu, the provincial round will be based on the theme ‘Tech for Transparent Nepal’. Participants will present UI/UX prototypes of digital solutions that promote transparency and citizen engagement in governance through technology.
A hackathon on ‘Open Innovation’ will be held at Sungabha College, Chitwan, on November 14-15. Teams will spend two days coding and developing solutions in fields such as education, science, technology, agriculture, business, AI, and the environment.
The Birgunj edition will focus on ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’, where teams will design UI/UX prototypes of digital systems addressing the SDGs.
In Koshi Province, the hackathon will center on ‘Technology for Resilient Communities’. Participants will present innovative ideas for disaster management, smart agriculture, local governance, and education.
Rupandehi’s edition will be based on ‘Innovative IT Solutions for Problems in Rupandehi’, with projects improving education, agriculture, transport, health, and border security through technology.
In Gandaki Province (Pokhara), the theme will be ‘The Next Era of E-Governance Harnessing AI’. Teams will develop AI-based digital solutions to enhance government services, public information, and citizen participation.
The Far West Province will host a competition on ‘Smart Far West’ in Dhangadhi during the first week of Mangsir, where teams will showcase their project prototypes.
Similarly, an Ideathon titled ‘Farms to Future’ will be held in Dang on November 21-22, focusing on creative ideas in health, smart cities, agricultural technology, education, and open innovation.
The provincial phase will conclude by November, while the national grand finale is scheduled for December in Kathmandu, according to the organizers.
