Kathmandu: The International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Photonics (ICTP 2026) is set to be organized in Nepal. The conference will take place at Hotel Hyatt Centric in Soltimod, Kathmandu from February 11 to 14.
The conference will be jointly organized by the Research and Innovation Center Nepal (RICN) and Nepal Engineering College, with support from the IEEE Nepal Chapter and the IEEE Photonics Society Nanjing Chapter. According to the organizers, more than 150 research papers will be presented by Nepali and international students and researchers from undergraduate to PhD levels.
According to conference secretary E. Birodh Rijal, the program aims to promote a culture of research in Nepal. “The culture of research in universities is low, and the government has not been able to allocate sufficient budget,” Rijal said. “This conference will show that Nepal has no shortage of research talent.”
The conference will feature keynote speakers from KAIST in South Korea, including Prof. Dr. Chang-hee Lee, Seung Han Han, and Prof. Pul Ho Lee. Speakers from Eastern International University in Vietnam and Nanjing University in China, including Prof. Dr. Shilong Pan and Prof. Dr. Suping Zhang, will also participate.
Research papers will be presented in six categories: RF (Radio Frequency) and Photonics, AI and Machine Learning, ICT Policy and Digital Governance, Recent Trends in Computing, and Robotics and Automation. The organizers have stated that the best selected papers will be published in an IEEE journal.
Applications for submitting research papers have been open since September 15. Although the deadline was set for November 30, preparations are underway to extend it by 15 days. Interested researchers can submit their papers through riconictp.org. The fee will be payable only after the selection results are announced on December 15.
The participation fee has been set at 12,000 to 14,000 rupees for Nepali students and 15,000 to 18,000 rupees for researchers. Fees will differ for participants from SAARC countries and other countries. Participants will also be able to join the ‘Global Digital Innovation’ workshop organized by KAIST, South Korea.
