Kathmandu: A ‘Heat Aware Webinar’ will be held on Saturday (tomorrow) to provide information about rising temperatures caused by climate change and ways to stay safe from its negative effects.
Climate activist Akanchya Maskay and Miss Nepal 2023 Srichchha Pradhan will be the keynote speakers in the virtual program, which will begin at 2 pm with technical support from Ambition Guru.
The webinar will focus on reducing the impact of climate change on daily life and ways to stay safe from rising heat. Activist Maskay said the program was organized to help people prepare six months before the start of the summer season.
According to Maskay, rising temperatures affect schools, hospitals, agriculture and daily life every year. She told TechPana, “The webinar will discuss how to stay safe from the increasing heat caused by climate change at the workplace and at home from a personal level.”
Registration for the Zoom-based program is open. Although the program is open to everyone, the main target groups are outdoor workers, farmers and shopkeepers. The organizer said the presentation will be given in Nepali to ensure direct access to safety measures for people affected by extreme heat.
Maskey said the data collected from the webinar will help identify what kind of support or products will be needed for climate adaptation in the future.
