Nepal’s Employees Provident Fund Becomes Runner-Up in ‘Excellence and Innovation Award’ in Netherlands

Kathmandu: The Employees Provident Fund has won the runner-up title for the prestigious ‘Excellence and Innovation Award’ at the World Pension Summit 2025 held in The Hague, Netherlands. The award recognized the fund’s improvements in pension design and restructuring at the conference held from November 4 to 6.
According to Darshan Bhattarai, Chief Manager of the fund, Nepal introduced a contributory pension system in 2075 BS, replacing the mandatory pension model. The fund received this award for its work on the design of the new system and its internal and technical management.
The conference featured two categories: ‘Rising Star 2025’ and ‘Excellence and Innovation Award’. According to Bhattarai, 16 countries, including Nepal, applied for the award. The fund secured the runner-up position after Nepal’s technical management was rated excellent in the competition among pension funds from around the world.
