Asha Gautam Slams Facebook ‘Tributes’ Posted While She Was Undergoing Treatment, Calls It Loss Of Humanity

Kathmandu: Actress and television host Asha Gautam has strongly objected to misleading rumors about her health circulating on social media. She expressed grief after some individuals and pages posted “tributes” claiming she had died while she was undergoing treatment in hospital.

Gautam, who is known for popular television serials such as Kanchhi and Bhunti, has now recovered and returned home. She urged her well-wishers to remain cautious about misinformation spreading on social media platforms.

She said false information was deliberately spread using fake IDs. According to her, AI-generated photos were also used to mislead people while she was ill.

Reacting angrily to posts announcing her death while she was still alive, Gautam wrote that among countless well-wishers who prayed for her recovery, there were also people who paid tribute to her. She compared the experience to “finding a stone while eating sweets” and called such individuals “people who have lost their humanity.”

She further warned people not to create fake accounts in her name, misuse AI to generate images, or spread misleading content that scares others. She stressed that nothing is more important than good health and urged everyone to take care of their well-being.

Gautam is not the only public figure to face such misinformation. During her treatment, false posts claiming the death of veteran actress Laxmi Shrestha, also known as Apsara, had gone viral on social media. Similarly, actor Ram Chandra Adhikari, popularly known as Kaji Ba, was also targeted by false rumors about his death while he was alive.
