Kathmandu. To curb rising fuel consumption and ease pressure on the economy, the government has urged the general public to ‘work from home’ and increase the use of electric vehicles. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday
Announcing the Cabinet decisions, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Pratibha Rawal, informed that the government has adopted a policy to implement alternative measures to reduce fuel consumption. “To cope with the growing fuel challenge, the government urges people to work from home as much as possible and prioritize the use of electric vehicles,” she said.
According to Minister Rawal, the government has also initiated necessary legal arrangements to support a long-term transition to electric vehicles. “For this transition, preparations are being made under the ethanol policy, and the government is committed to the development and expansion of EV infrastructure”, she added.
