Khalti by IME Introduces Real-Time International Payment Service for Freelancers

Kathmandu. Khalti by IME, a leading digital wallet in Nepal, has launched a new service enabling freelancers and digital entrepreneurs working with foreign clients to receive international payments directly into their wallets.

The service has been introduced through a strategic partnership between IME Limited and global payment gateway ‘Stripe.’ According to a press release issued on Sunday, the facility allows Nepali users to receive payments from abroad in real-time without procedural delays.

Under the new system, Khalti users can send a payment request directly through the app to international clients. Once the request is received, payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or e-banking via Stripe. The amount is then instantly credited to the user’s Khalti wallet in Nepal.

Khalti CEO Praveen Regmi described the partnership as a significant milestone for Nepal’s fintech sector. “This service has opened doors for Nepali entrepreneurs and digital talents to access the global market and receive their earnings instantly,” Regmi said, “and by enabling seamless cross-border transactions through a domestic digital wallet, it will significantly contribute to the growth of Nepal’s digital economy.”
