Kathmandu. ‘Junction X Kathmandu’ is set to take place from May 29 to 31, to bring together people active in information technology and innovation on a common platform. SUMS Nepal and Finland’s Cogknit are jointly organizing the three-day event at the Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.
According to the organizers, the program will feature a hackathon, panel discussions, mentoring sessions, and an exhibition focused on information and communication technology.
This year’s event will revolve around three themes: Hydropower and Sustainable Energy, Hospitality and Heritage, and High-Tech. Organizers said the program will explore how artificial intelligence and digital technology can be integrated into these sectors. Each day will include separate thematic sessions, along with panel discussions, seminars, and paper presentations.
The hackathon, a major attraction of the event, will also center on the three themes. More than 300 students from over 30 educational institutions across the Kathmandu Valley are expected to compete in the 36-hour competition. The winning team will receive an opportunity for startup investment and a chance to participate in the ‘Global Hackathon’ held in Finland.
More than 25 technology companies from Nepal and Finland are expected to showcase their products and services during the exhibition. Students participating in the hackathon will also receive mentoring from industry experts.
Organizers said the entry fee for visitors is expected to range between Rs 100 and 200. Online booking for participation in various sessions will be open from the first week of May.
