Kathmandu. The Department of Land Management and Archive has made it mandatory to conduct all processes related to mortgaging and releasing collateral held by banks and financial institutions through the online system.
Issuing a notice on Thursday, the department said the move is aimed at fully digitizing its services in line with the government’s administrative reform agenda and its push for result-based governance.
Under the new system, borrowers and landowners will no longer be required to be physically present at Land Revenue Offices. Banks and financial institutions will handle mortgage registration or release procedures digitally, streamlining the process for service users.
The department said the system will be implemented in two phases. Designated banks and financial institutions under the Land Administration Directive will begin implementation from May 4, while all other ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, and ‘D’ category institutions will be required to adopt the system from May 15.
