49 Officials to Be Dismissed from NAST Under New Ordinance

 

Kathmandu. A newly issued ordinance has paved the way for the removal of 49 officials from the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), the country’s apex scientific body.

The ‘Special Provision Ordinance, 2083 on the Removal of Public Officials’ issued on Saturday by President Ram Chandra Paudel mandates the simultaneous dismissal of officials serving within NAST’s governing structure.

According to the ordinance, all officials appointed or nominated under the ‘Nepal Academy of Science and Technology Act, 2048’ will have their positions automatically vacated. This includes key office bearers such as the Vice-Chancellor, Secretary, and members of the Academic Council. 

In total, 49 officials are set to lose their positions following the implementation of the ordinance.
