TIV System Hit by Glitches as ‘Request Failed’ Error Hampers Registration

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance’s newly launched ‘Temporary Import of Vehicle (TIV)’ system has encountered technical issues shortly after its rollout on Tuesday, raising concerns over its functionality.

The system was introduced to facilitate Indian tourists and other travelers entering Nepal by land with their own vehicles, allowing them to submit vehicle details and pay required revenue online.

However, tests revealed multiple glitches in the portal. Users are currently unable to upload required documents, preventing them from completing the registration process.

The TIV portal includes sections for entering general travel information such as entry point, duration of stay, and destination along with driver and vehicle details. The process then directs users to a document upload section, where the issue arises.

According to the test, the document upload option does not appear at all. Instead, users encounter an error message reading, “Request Failed with status code 401,” halting further progress as the next page fails to load.

Information Officer at Department of Customs, Kishor Bartaula acknowledged the issue, stating that efforts are underway to fix the problem. “Although the system was officially launched yesterday, some issues persist. We have received similar complaints from other users, and our technical team is working to resolve them,” he said.
