National Identity Card Services Resume After 10-Day Disruption

Kathmandu. Services under the National Identity Card Management Information System, which had remained disrupted for the past 10 days, have resumed after technical issues in the system were resolved.

The National Identity Card and Registration Department said services, including new identity card enrollment and National Identity Number verification, which had been halted since 4 May due to a server malfunction, returned to normal from Thursday.

According to the department, the system has now been restored, allowing the enrollment of new applicants and verification of National Identity Numbers to resume.

The disruption had affected thousands of service seekers across the country. Passport issuance services were particularly impacted as National Identity Card numbers could not be verified during the outage.

The technical issue also affected the renewal of social security allowances, the correction of personal details, and the generation of identity numbers during birth registration.
