Kathmandu: Visa (NYSE: V), a global leader in digital payments, has officially opened its office in Nepal.

The Kathmandu office marks Visa’s long-term commitment to supporting Nepal’s transition to a cashless economy. The company said this strategic move aims to expand access to digital payments and deliver seamless, secure financial solutions for consumers and merchants.

Visa has also appointed Manoj Thapa as its head of Nepal. He will report to Sabbir Ahmed, Visa’s Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

“We are excited to announce Visa’s presence in Nepal with an office in Kathmandu. I’m also pleased to welcome Manoj to Visa’s leadership team. His appointment reflects Visa’s commitment to building a secure and accessible digital payments infrastructure that supports our global vision,” said Ahmed.

Visa said Thapa previously served as Head of Partnerships and Innovation at PhonePe, where he played a key leadership role in cross-border payments.

“I’m honored to join Visa in leading efforts to accelerate digital payments adoption in Nepal. Visa’s commitment to innovation and secure transactions aligns with my goal to digitally empower Nepal,” said Thapa.
