RSP Cultivates Rude, Obscene and Anti-Social Behavior on Social Media: UML MP Bartaula

Kathmandu: Ruling party chief whip and UML MP Mahesh Bartaula has made serious allegations that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is mobilizing its cadres in an organized manner on social media to abuse and incite political opponents.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he said that as soon as the parliament meeting is broadcast live, RSP supporters attack the Prime Minister, ministers, and leaders of parties they dislike in an open and organized manner.

“As soon as the parliament meeting goes live, the abuse starts in the comments below,” said MP Bartaula. “They are using rude, obscene, and anti-social words and spreading incitement through social media.”

Bartaula expressed his anger, saying such attacks are happening at the personal and family level as well. He said, “We are being accused of being Hanuman, called someone’s son or daughter, called brokers, extremely anti-social words… This series of abuses in the name of father, mother, children, wife, grandfather, and even late grandmother is being carried out by the Rastriya Swatantra Party in an organized manner, by their cadres.”

During his address, Bartaula also strongly criticized the policy adopted by the RSP in the cooperative fraud case. He claimed that the Rastriya Swatantra Party had collected signatures and donations in the name of political revenge, but the very person for whom this campaign was launched accepted the bribe in court and applied for release on bail.

“Admitting the bribe is in itself an admission of guilt,” Bartaula said. “After your party president accepted the charges in a roundabout way, wasn’t it proven that the accusations made as political revenge were just a show?”

He urged the RSP to immediately correct such activities and warned that such a style of work would eventually destroy the party.
