Lakshmi Sunrise Bank Warns Smartphone Loan Defaulters to Repay Within 35 Days

Kathmandu: Lakshmi Sunrise Bank has published the names of 30 borrowers who failed to pay installments on time after taking ‘smartphone loans.’ The bank issued a public notice on Sunday, giving them 35 days to clear the entire outstanding amount.

According to the bank, the notice was issued after the borrowers failed to respond despite repeated requests to pay installments as per the agreement. “This notice has been published because the borrowers did not come in touch despite repeated requests from the bank,” the statement said.

The bank warned that if the outstanding amount is not paid within 35 days from the date of publication, it will begin the loan recovery process. It added that the names of the defaulters will be recommended for blacklisting by the Credit Information Center under Nepal Rastra Bank’s directive. The bank also stated that it will initiate other necessary legal procedures to recover the dues.

The list published by the bank includes the names, citizenship numbers, and addresses of 30 borrowers from various districts, including Parsa, Rupandehi, Morang, Makawanpur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Jhapa, and Kailali.

Recently, several banks have started offering ‘phone loan’ services that allow customers to obtain loans easily through mobile apps.
