Police Urge Public Not to Post About Traveling Home on Social Media, Advise Installing CCTV Cameras

Kathmandu: Police have urged the public to stay alert, warning that incidents of theft and robbery may rise during the upcoming Tihar and Chhath festivals. In a notice published on Wednesday, the Kathmandu District Police Range advised people to take extra security precautions.

The notice recommends installing emergency sirens and CCTV cameras in homes and neighborhoods and avoiding social media posts that mention traveling to villages for the festivals.

“If you receive a threatening call, record it for as long as possible and inform the police along with the phone number,” the statement said. “Use electronic transactions whenever possible, and be extremely cautious while handling cash.”
