Education Ministry Announces Ban on Bridges Courses and Entrance Preparation Classes For SEE Graduates

Kathmandu. Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, has stated that the ‘Bridge Course’ and ‘Entrance Preparation’ classes targeting students who have taken the SEE examination will be completely banned from 14 April 2026.

While speaking to journalists during the announcement of the Cabinet meeting decisions on Monday, Minister Pokharel clarified that a ban has been imposed on such tuition and coaching classes conducted before admission to grade 11.

“Coaching centers and tuition centers for students studying MBBS and engineering beyond the university level will be allowed to operate after registering according to the law,” he said.

Earlier on Sunday, there was confusion due to differing information regarding the scope of the ban in the press release issued by the Ministry of Education and in Minister Pokharel's social media post. The ministry's release mentioned closing preparatory classes up to various levels of higher education, whereas Minister Pokharel had only set the scope up to class 12.

Due to the lack of coordination observed in the same work area and information, the ministry had removed the notice from its website and Facebook page on Monday morning.
