Intruders Storm Parliament Amid Gen-Z Protest, Organizers Deny Role

Kathmandu: The protest organized by Gen-Z in the capital on Monday spiraled out of control. The movement was initially driven by the viral “nepo baby” trend, where young people voiced anger against political dynasties, nepotism, and hereditary privilege in Nepal’s leadership. Through both online campaigns and street demonstrations, Gen-Z activists have been demanding accountability, equal opportunities, and an end to entrenched family-based politics.

A notice was posted on Gen-Z’s official Discord group, suspecting that another party was behind Monday’s incident, contrary to their intentions. Calling on the protesters to return to their homes, the notice said, “There was an attempt to interfere in the parliament building at the initiative of a third party. We would like to clarify that this step was not initiated by the Gen-Z protesters.”

As tensions rose during the protest, the organizing group clarified that the incident was not related to their movement. “Our protest will move towards unity and peaceful change, not violence.”

The notice also called on all protesters to take the lead, remain disciplined, and not allow the other party to hijack their movement.
