UML-Affiliated Farmers’ Federation Protests Balen’s Facebook Poem, Demands Apology

Kathmandu: The All Nepal Farmers’ Federation has objected to a Facebook post by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen). In a statement issued on Tuesday, the federation protested against the phrase “dirty like a farmer” used in Balen’s post.

“The federation strongly condemns the statement that humiliates, belittles, and hurts the dignity of farmers, the main and fundamental productive force of the country,” the statement said. “It is regrettable that such an insulting remark has come from a person holding a responsible position like the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.”

The federation has urged Mayor Shah to immediately delete the post and issue a public apology. It also warned that it would take further action if he fails to do so.
