Engineer And Rapper Uniq Poet’s Team Wins AI Hackathon In Austria

Kathmandu: A team including Nepali rapper and AI engineer Uthasa Joshi, popularly known as Uniq Poet, has won the title of the ‘Great AI Hackathon’ organized at Johannes Kepler University Linz in Austria. The team secured first place and won a prize of 1,500 euros, around Rs 250,000, in the global competition organized by Google Developers Group Linz.

Along with Joshi, Arnab Mondal, Gaurav Parajuli, Milena Kowalska, and Nikolaus Weingartmayer participated in the hackathon. The team presented a project titled ‘The New Hire’ in the competition, which focused on developing technical solutions using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud technology.

Joshi said the project was designed to address a common problem faced by young people who say they have academic certificates but lack work experience. He said the goal was to help bridge the gap between education and employment.

According to Joshi, ‘The New Hire’ is a software platform where students and new developers can interact with AI colleagues, receive code reviews, and follow a structured one-week work plan to gain practical workplace experience. The team developed a working prototype of the software in a single day using platforms such as Google Gemini and AntiGravity.

After the results were announced, Uniq Poet shared his happiness on social media and thanked his team members and the organizers. Despite forming the team at the last moment, they managed to outperform teams from around the world due to their strong presentation and innovative concept.
