Facebook introduces content monetization for Nepali users

Kathmandu: Meta has rolled out the content monetization feature for Facebook creators in Nepal. The facility became available this week.

Content monetization allows creators to earn income through Facebook. Until now, Facebook had offered in-stream ads (ads placed in videos) and the Stars feature. With this rollout, in-stream ads are now included under Facebook’s broader monetization program.

Facebook pages and users eligible for monetization will now be able to earn from posts, reels, statuses, and stories. Some users have reported that they have already started receiving payments in their Nepali bank accounts after the launch.

However, others have faced issues with payouts being disabled when setting up their accounts. Even earlier, some Nepali creators claimed to have earned money under Facebook monetization by linking their pages to countries where Meta had already introduced the service.

Meta has launched this feature in Nepal at a time when the Nepali government is preparing to deactivate unregistered social media platforms in the country.
